EcoMusic – Nature in Classical Music Around the World

This lecture will explore examples of how nature has been represented in Western Classical Music and other ethnic music traditions around the world. We will focus on both individual expressions and the tradition of scientific inspiration of music from the ancient Greeks to Galileo to the present.
*This lecture could also interest folks studying the history of science, humanities, mathematics, physics, and diversity studies.
EcoMusic – Environmental Activism in Popular Music and Education

This lecture will explore the roots of environmental activism in the 1960s folk revival and its legacy in folk music and pop music culture. We will also show how music has contributed toward emerging environmental education in K12 schools.

EcoMusic – What’s Next? How Can You Become an EcoMusician?

This will be a group discussion that confronts the questions of how musicians can contribute to the unfolding and increasingly urgent challenge of climate change.
*This lecture could also interest folks exploring a broad spectrum of both professional and amateur artistic work as it applies to climate change.
A130 is on the basement level (A = basement level for all buildings across campus) of the Student Alumni Union (SAU). RIT buildings also have numbers, and the SAU is building 04.
A130 is our main music rehearsal room and is located across the hall from the backstage doors of Ingle Auditorium, down the hall from the RITz Dining Hall.
