In Exitu Israel is a setting of Psalm 114 that tells the story of the liberation of Israel from slavery in Egypt. The joy, rhythm, and drive of the piece express the powerful, joyous yet difficult, the movement of the people of Israel out of slavery.
“The Emancipation Oratorio” commemorated the 150th anniversary the abolition of slavery by act of Congress, combining texts and music styles from West Africa, Europe and the US.
Notes – This piece adapted in terms of accompaniment with different percussion and a piano covering some string parts.
